4 Steps to Turn Your 'Dreams' into Reality

How do you Turn Dreams Into Reality?

Every New Year, we hear a lot about ‘goals’. To: lose weight, get healthy, increase income, etc.

I see so many people with big ‘goals’, but they never seem to be able to make them happen. They struggle and struggle, and finally give up. Or they get so far but can't seem to get over that hump to get to the next level.

Why do you think that happens?

  1. For some people, the dream LOOKS good, but they're not willing to do what it TAKES to make things HAPPEN. Achieving success is not easy. It takes hard work and long hours, so if you're not WILLING, it's not going to happen.

2. Other people are willing to work hard, but they really don't have a clear vision of what they want their LIFE to look like. They're just moving along from day to day, never looking ahead.

In order to have a successful goal outcome you need to have a clear vision of just what that means for YOU - it's not the same for everyone. But there ARE things that you can do to make sure you Turn Dreams Into Reality:

First: you need to define your vision. Think about:

  1. the weight you want to lose,

  2. how great that Alaska vacation will be next summer,

  3. how much more money you want to make,

  4. and what you will need to do to start your own business.

Don't hold back in this part of your vision!

Second, you need to start the momentum. Remember, this is a journey, and every journey starts with one small step. DO ONE (1) THING to get started!

How about reading The Power of Positive Thinking by Norman Vincent Peale? It was a life-changer for me.

Listen to some 'positive thinking' podcasts. (Feed the mind with a new way of approaching life!)

Decide what it is that you need to do to accomplish your vision, i.e.: go to the gym, save $X out of each paycheck, ask for a raise, buy some books about the business you'll start.

The third thing you need to do is make a plan. You've taken that first step, now lay out a road map to continue on your path. You'll probably need to make adjustments to your plan eventually, but that's okay - everyone hits speed bumps. That doesn't mean you have the wrong vision, it just means you might need to change direction.

Fourth, you need to monitor your progress. If some things are working and others aren't, then learn from this. Don't keep doing the things that don't work. Instead, put more energy into the things that DO work, and focus on that. And finally, stay focused on your vision. Don't let that little voice in your head tell you that you aren't capable. Stay focused on the positive things that are happening, and that will move you closer to your vision.

Remember, what you focus on becomes your reality, so if you're constantly berating yourself for failing, guess what! You'll continue to fail! But if you stay positive, and concentrate on things that reinforce your vision, the more likely it is that you'll succeed!

Have you got a Dream? Are you focused on turning it into a Reality for YOU?
